Adopting from a Shelter or Dog/Cat Rescue is the way to go, even if you are looking for a purebred. The ASPCA estimates 20% of dogs in shelters are purebreds. Plus dogs & cats adopted from shelters have been given their shots and are already spayed or neutured. Going to a shelter to adopt a pet is an honorable act.
