Cat Poem

They will not go quietly,
the cats who've shared our lives.
In suptle ways they let us know
their spirit still survives.
Old habits still make us think
we hear a meow at the door.
Or step back when we drop
a tasty morsel on the floor.
Our feet still go around the place
the food dish used to be,
And, sometimes, coming home at night,
we miss them terribly.
And although time may bring new friends
and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts
belongs to them. . . and always will.

"GOODBYE"

With heavy hearts; and a tear in our eyes,
after all these years; we must say goodbye.
Please understand; we've done all we could.
If there was anything we could do;
you know that we would.

Dream of that special day and time
when we'll meet at the bridge
and all will be fine.
We'll run and play, side by side,
with a warm soft feeling deep down inside.

Your memory will live on in each one of us
you'll always be number one to all of us.
Have a safe journey through the night
I promise when you awake,
you'll be in God's light.

So with heavy hearts and tears in our eyes,
just for now my friend, we say goodbye.

CREATION

When God had made the earth and sky
the flowers and the trees,
he then made all the animals,
the fish, the birds and bees.
And when at least he'd finished
not one was quite the same.
He said I'll walk this world of mine
and give each one a name.
And so he travelled far and wide
and everywhere he went,
a little creature followed him
until his strength was spent.
When all were named upon the earth
and in the sky and sea,
the little creature said "Dear Lord,
there's no name left for me."
Kindly the Father said to him
"I've left you to the end."
I've turned my own name back to front
and called you DOG, my friend."
In Loving Memory …

God saw you were getting tired,
And a cure was not to be,
So he put his arms around you
And whispered, "Come to me."

With tearful eyes we watched you,
And saw you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.

A Pet Memorial Poem

You took me home and gave me love,
I'll watch over you from up above.
Leaving you was the hardest part,
Forever you'll be in my heart.
You took me home, what a life I had,
Now I'm gone, please don't be sad.
For I'll be with you once again,
After all you're my Best Friend

“Dogs are not our whole life,
but they make our lives whole.”
- Roger Caras

When your cat rubs the side of its face along your leg, it's affectionately marking you with its scent, identifying you as its private property, saying, in effect,
'You belong to me'”

A Place In Heaven
You left paw print's on my heart
that will never go away
Although you are gone
in my heart you'll stay
You filled my life with love
my companion from the start
So forever I will hold you
deep inside my heart
Save a place in heaven,
save it just for me
For I will be with you again
someday just you wait and see

Four Feet in Heaven

Your favorite chair is vacant now...
No eager purrs to greet me.
No softly padded paws to run
Ecstatically to meet me.
No coaxing rubs, no plaintive cry
Will say it's time for feeding.
I've put away your bowl, and all
The things you won't be needing;
But I will miss you little friend,
For I could never measure
The happiness you brought me,
The comfort and the pleasure.
And since God put you here to share
In earthly joy and sorrow;
I'm sure there'll be a place for you
In Heaven's bright tomorrow...

A Christmas Prayer for those who have suffered a recent loss

God of compassion, there is such a hole in my heart! Today should be a day of joy, but I feel only emptiness and loss. While the world celebrates around me, I remember Christmas celebrations of the past and I long to have my loved one with me. I bring my sorrows to you, Lord, like some odd gift of the magi and dump them at your feet. In my blind tears I wonder if anyone can possibly understand the depth of my sadness.

I know, you can. You sent your son to be with us in our deepest sorrows and I know that even though I might not feel it now, you are here with me, grieving with me, caring for me in my sadness. Dearest lord, help me to turn to the one I miss so much today and speak. Help me heal the loss of our parting and help me not to regret the things I didn't say. Sorrow tears at my heart, but today I ask that my loss soften my heart and make me more compassionate with everyone I meet, so that my loss may become a gift to others.
